GFF Care & Support Centre, Kalimpong

AIDS has become a wide spread disease in the Darjeeling District and it sad to say that historically there were no homes or hospice to take care of the terminally ill patients. As provincial of the Cluny’s, Sr. Teresa Rai saw the need for a HIV/AIDS Hospice Centre in Kalimpong.

At Sr. Teresa’s request GFF provided the sum of INR 10,000,000.00 to buy a bungalow Tibet house and the land around it to serve this purpose.

The further donation of INR 800,000.00 by GFF allowed for the provision of a fully equipped ambulance including a digital x-ray machine, binocular microscope, oxygen cylinder and cold box to assist in catering to the medical centers that were scattered in distant villages.

Patients today are given love and care by the Cluny Sisters at their home.
