Our Purpose
Mission
Through our grants to organisations and the Foundation's on-the-ground work, we aim to help individuals build better lives and so strengthen their communities.
Areas of focus
The Foundation supports transformative, high-impact projects which have the potential to make a long-term difference to many people's lives. It encourages self-help by providing a "hands-up" rather than a "hand-out" approach to its grants and by focusing on achieving results in a business-like manner.
Currently, its principal areas of focus is in the Asia-Pacific region.
In New Zealand, the Foundation has made major investments in education, health and sport. These have a strong emphasis on creating opportunities for young people and developing skills, talent and knowledge to help New Zealand succeed and prosper.
The Foundation also has contributed to urgent needs such as the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.
In India, for the past eight years, the Foundation has been workjing to protect children against industrial and sexual exploitation, as well as investing in village development in one deprived area. It is helping build better lives for the village people living in the hill areas of Kalimpong, in West Bengal, through initiatives in education, health, sanitation, clean drinking water and economic development.
